The Vegan Standard draft version 3 is now under public consultation! The objective of this public consultation is to ensure that The Vegan Standard is transparent, inclusive, and practically applicable. By inviting feedback from stakeholders, professionals, organizations, and members of the public, we aim to gather diverse perspectives that help strengthen clarity, credibility, and real-world relevance.

This consultation process provides an opportunity to identify potential gaps, ambiguities, or implementation challenges before final publication. All constructive input will be carefully reviewed and considered in order to refine the Standard and ensure it reflects shared values, scientific integrity, and practical feasibility.

 

Through this open consultation, we seek to build trust, encourage collaboration, and create a robust framework that serves both producers and consumers with confidence and accountability.

What is new?

The new version 3 aims to expand the scope beyond food into several additional product categories. While “vegan” certification has traditionally focused on food, it is by no means limited to it.
 

The upcoming Version 3 of The Vegan Standard will cover:

• Hygiene sensitive products, cosmetics, personal care and household products

  • Food contact materials

  • Cosmetics and personal care products

  • Essential oils, perfumes and toilet waters

• Pharmaceutical and medicinal products

  • Medicines and pharmaceutical intermediates

  • Topical medicines and disposable medical devices

  • Complementary and alternative medicines

• Textiles and textile related products, footwear, rubber and latex

  • Textiles and clothing

  • Footwear

  • Apparel and accessories

  • Rubbers and Latex

• Chemicals, dyes and plastics

  • Dyes and chemicals

  • Plastics and bioplastics

  • Petroleum products and related materials, waxes and adhesives

• Other products including electronics and its accessories

  • Electronics and its accessories

  • Pottery and Glassware

  • Other household items

  • Product derived from agricultural by-products, waste, residues and co-product

 

Our core objective remains unchanged: to certify vegan products that contain no animal-derived ingredients and do not involve the exploitation or cruelty of animals.
